To make this happen via BC3, I opened up the FTP profile, clicked on the "Transfers" tab and added *.file & *.mbr to the "ASCII Types" box. If the transfer is in ASCII mode, the AS400's FTP server will automagically take care of this for you.

A couple guys here file share an AS400 folder and uses Windows Explorer to copy/paste files back and forth from there harddrives to the shared AS400 folder. One guy setup a FTP sever on his pc, so the AS400 could FTP files back to himself.

One of my users stopped by with a situation that they use WS_FTP Pro to download a file to the PC from z/OS and when the file is stored on the pc, trailing blanks are removed and a cr/lf is. I didn't realize 'til now that the tso/ispf part of the forum is where ftp questions are handled.
FTP is insertng cr/lf and removing trailing blanks. Opening ASCII mode data connection for filename.txt 226 Transfer complete ftp. ftp> put d:\simoweb1\filename.txt 200 PORT command successful. The following FTP Command will copy a file (using ASCII mode) from the local system to the remote system and display the information. Use the cd command to change to the directory where the SAVF file is saved. Type bin and then press Enter to put ftp session into binary mode. #Ibm i access client solutions as400 password
Enter User name and Password if necessary, and press Enter after entering each credential.
Type ftp, where address is the IP address of the iSeries (AS/400) server.
